The red warning has been issued in four Tamil Nadu districts, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvalur and Chinglepet, as heavy rainfall of heavy and subway in the capital city and suburban and three people died on Thursday.
Minister of Tamil Minister Nadu MK Stalin visited the flood control room at Greater Chennai Corporation on Thursday night to review rain, relief, and rescue work in various parts of the city.
State income and disaster management minister KKSR Ramachandran said three people, including two women and a boy, died of electricity in Chennai after an intense rain spell, which might be the one that was witnessed in recent years.
“The red warnings have been issued for four Tamil Nadu districts including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, and Ching Lepet remembering heavy rainfall. Three people have died of electric shock today,” Ramachandran said.
As a road and subway is flooded and causes traffic congestion in the city and suburban riders struggling to maneuver their vehicles.
Police said the three subways were closed and remembering inundation and traffic moved at a slut speed in at least 14 arterial city highways. Greater Chennai Corporation said more than 145 pumps were used to eliminate blockage of flooded locations.
The Metro authorities extend train service per hour until 12 am to help passengers achieve their goals safely.
Most areas in the city and suburbs began to receive rainfall in the afternoon and it was heavy for very heavy in several locations. According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), the highest rainfall was 17.65cm recorded at MRC Nagar in Chennai.
IMD said it was 14.65cm and 10cm each in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam respectively. In other areas, including those who fall under the Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram Regency, bathrooms range from 1cm (Madhavaram) to 10cm (Nandanam). Rainfall data is recorded between 8:30 a.m. and 6.15pm on Thursday.
