Mumbai: PM Modi to virtually open two railway lines connecting Thane and Diva today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday inaugurated two additional train lines (fifth and sixth) connecting Thane and Diva in Maharashtra. The inauguration will take place through video conferencing at 4:30 p.m.

Built at the estimated cost of ₹ 620 Crore, the railroad between Thane and Diva is part of the Mumbai Urban Transportation Project (MUMP 2B). Additional two railroad lines received approval in 2008 to separate the suburbs and long-range trains.

Of the four songs between Kalyan and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM), two tracks are used for slow local trains and two tracks for local trains and fast items.

This new line will also allow the introduction of 36 new suburban trains in the city. They will facilitate the train to launch 80 to 100 more local train services at the end of the year, enabling a reduction in the crowd between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) -Kalyan / Karis and Kasara, said the statement.

The new line will also help trains operate local trains and outskirts of the city in separate tracks between Thane and Diva that allow increasing the timeliness of the train.
