As a mark of respect to Sheikh Khalifa, the Centre has decided that there will be one day’s state mourning on Saturday across the country.

India announced one day of mourning the country on Saturday after the death of President UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to communication issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs Union to all states and union regions on Friday, as a sign of respect to the people who died, the Indian government had decided that there would be a state sorrow one day on May 14 throughout the country.

On the day of mourning, the National Flag will be hoisted half a pole in all buildings where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment, the communication said.

Sheikh Khalifa, sick for a long time, died on Friday. He is 73 years old. He is the oldest son of the founder of UAE Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan

He served as the President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi from November 3, 2004. He was elected to succeed his father who served as the UAE’s first president from 1971 until he passed away on November 2, 2004.
