Ahmedabad serial blasts: How Gujarat Crime Branch got its first breakthrough in the case Ahmedabad serial blasts: How Gujarat Crime Branch got its first breakthrough in the case

A total of 22 bombs tore the Ahmedabad city on July 26, 2008. In a range of 75 minutes, 56 people lost their lives and 240 others were injured. While the terror of India’s terror group Mujahidin claimed responsibility for the serial explosion, the biggest challenge was to arrest the mastermind and took them to court.

After the bloody day, all law enforcement agencies were involved to solve this case. The Ahmedabad Crime branch was led by Commissioner with the police Ashish Bhatia and Deputy Commissioner Abhay Chudaasma entrusted the case.

All investigative officers are under extreme pressure to be delivered; They pound the sidewalk, hit the informant and work all the time to secure tin. But it seems they have hit the brick wall directly from the get-go because there are no instructions found.

While the first explosive wave was mainly carried out using a bicycle bomb, a blast at LG Hospital and a civil hospital departed using a gas cylinder placed in the car. The police cannot dig information about this vehicle – no direction where they come from, with whom they are.

FIRST BREAKTHROUGH

It seems that the investigation has hit a dead end, DCP Abhay Chudasma received a sudden phone call from a police officer in Bharuch, named Jacob Ali. The first question of the police is if he has received information about the car used to carry out the explosion. Chudasma initially did not want to share the details of the case. But then Jacob Ali said, “Sir, I have seen photos of gastric cases, the cars used to explosion in the hospital, I have seen it at Bharuch.”

YAKUB INVESTIGATES

Immediately, Chudasma ordered Jacob to investigate who was owned and who had brought them. Jacob rushed to Ghulam Bhai’s house. He has an old newspaper in his hand. He showed the Ghulam Bhai picture of the car displayed in the newspaper and asked if he recognized the car.

Ghulam Bhai was surprised. He examined the newspaper’s photo and told Jacob that the car resembled one belonging to several people who lived in his house on rent for several days. After recording the contact details of Ghulam Bhai, Jacob immediately returned to the police station and handed over what he had learned for the Chudasma DCP.

ONE MAN SURVEILLANCE

Like Jacob Ali, another police play an important role in the probe. Constable Delip Thakur was given the task to oversee all telephone numbers who made calls during the serial explosion in Ahmedabad.

Thakur manually checked the telephone number and some suspicious numbers were given to the officers who investigated. It led the branch of crime to Abu Bashar in Lucknow, a prime accused of the case of the Ahmedabad Serial Blast.
